About us

The centre intends to either consolidate and develop the common and essential human orientation, that already characterizes the existing faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Economics and Architecture and also to develop the specific activities of scientific research and training, dedicated to the continuation and maintenance of peace as an authentic condition and in the same time the lifeblood of the development of the people.

“The science of peace” might be considered the scientific heart of the Centre, as an interdisciplinary social science, which despite the fact that it arose later than the other sciences, it is quickly making a name for itself in different Universities of Excellence and it is enriching itself with numerous fields: economics, international relationships and politic sciences, in the first place, but also sociology, anthropology, religious anthropology, psychology.

The most important field of study of the science of peace it’s the analyses of the social dynamics that subtend the achievement of a lasting peace either from the States of the today’s “global system”, as well as between different communities on the inside of each society, between people, associations, different groups, ethnic minority and majority, different religions. The questions mostly treated are:

a) the role and the attitude of the institutions capable of maintaining the peace in post-conflict scenes

b) the most suitable economic politics for the construction of peace

c) models of integration within and outside the country and the role of the “values”

d) innovation and  entrepreneurship in the continuation of peace

e) immigration, processes of integration and cooperation in the European and Mediterranean areas

f) politic violence, conflicts and terrorism

The centre, being based on this new science, can extend its activity in the direction of the scientific development of the most crucial related problems and themes, promoting in the same time a specific training for the students of the Catholic University and for the students of other international Universities (especially those reunited to FIUC and FUCE), other than participating in the most relevant international initiatives related to peace, with a special consideration of the Balkan area, European one and that of Mediterranean.
