Speaker of Parliament Nikolla: Let us promote peace and democracy in the education system.

Today at the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel" was held a conference to share Pope Francis's Message for the 55th World Day of Peace: "Dialogue Between Generations, Education and Work: Tools for Building Lasting Peace."

The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mrs. Lindita Nikolla said that we should promote peace and democracy in the education system.

"Let us work to promote the values ​​of peace and democracy in our education system. Let us give our children the opportunity to learn from the mistakes of the past. Peace education disables any cause that leads to violence. Our schools need to improve peace education at all levels, from kindergarten to university, with an emphasis on the dignity of all people.

"Education for peace is a successful way to overcome social inequality as well as to challenge any narrative or historical legacy that seeks to justify forms of oppression and violence." - declared the Speaker of the Assembly.

The event, a collaboration of the Lady of Good Counsel Foundation with the Apostolic Nunciature in Albania, as a reflection on Pope Francis's Message for World Peace Day 2022.

Shared the message for World Peace Day also Father Jerome Ndo Mih, President of Our Lady of Good Counsel Foundation; Prof. Bruno Giardina, Rector of the Catholic University OLGC; H.E. Monsignor Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio in Albania, and H.E. Monsignor Arjan Dodaj, Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Tirana-Durrës. A press release was also delivered by H.E. The conference was moderated by Father Appolinaire Anguissa, Director of the Research Center in Human Sciences at Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel”.
