Following the recent microfinance troubles, the Bank of Albania has once again reduced the maximum interest rate ceilings for consumer loans.
- For loans up to 200,000 lek, the maximum interest rate has decreased from 95.19% (January 2025) to 70.9%.
- Example: For a 200,000 lek loan, a borrower will repay a maximum of 341,800 lek.The update aims to ensure fairer lending practices and greater consumer protection in the microfinance sector.
