CESPIC for Peace
The European Center for Science for Peace, Integration and Cooperation is organizing for the first time in Albania the Peace Prize initiative, an event significantly supported by the Our Lady of Good Counsel Foundation. The event will be held on March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Aula Magna at the Catholic University of Tirana, in collaboration also with the Balkan–Caucasus–Transeurope Observatory / Center for International Cooperation (OBCT/CCI).
The Peace Prize is dedicated to individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to peace, with a special focus on the Balkan region. The idea of awarding a Peace Prize was formalized in May 2025, when the initiative—supported by FZKM and coordinated by the European Center for Studies on Peace, Integration and Cooperation (CESPIC)—was officially presented.
An international jury composed of renowned experts from Southeastern Europe, the Balkans, and Albania has decided that this year the Peace Prize will be awarded to:
- Nihad Suljić, in recognition of his continuous humanitarian engagement and his contribution to social peace.
- The project “Joint History Books”, in recognition of its long-term educational role in promoting mutual understanding and reconciliation.
On the morning of March 11, the prize will be presented during a public award ceremony attended by numerous guests. The ceremonial session will be chaired by Professor Raul Caruso, Director of the CESPIC Center.
