On May 15th, 2025, at 11.30 a.m., the official presentation of the CESPIC Peace Award will take place at the Aula Magna of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel" in Tirana. The award is promoted by the “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Foundation and coordinated by the European Centre of Peace Science, Integration and Cooperation (CESPIC), in collaboration with the Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa / Centro per la Cooperazione Internazionale (OBCT/CCI).
The CESPIC Peace Award aims to annually recognize individuals or organizations committed to the promotion of peace, with a particular focus on the Balkan region.
Confirmed speakers are:
- Brother Ruggero Valentini, President of the “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Foundation
- Prof. Leonardo Palombi, Rector of the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel”
- Prof. Raul Caruso, Director of CESPIC
- Dr. Luisa Chiodi, Director of OBCT/CCI
- Mons. Gjergj Meta, President of the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Church in Albania
The ceremony will be held on the occasion of the European Political Community Summit, which will bring to Tirana the leaders of the 44 European member states. The launch of the Peace Award is intended as a strong and symbolic statement of commitment to peace, emerging from a region that knows deeply both the value and the fragility of coexistence. In an international context increasingly shaped by narratives of security, rearmament, and conflict, reaffirming the centrality of peace means restoring to European citizens the concrete horizon of a fair, cooperative, and common-good-oriented future.
