The Scientific Conference: "The Consequences of Climate Change on the Seas and Human Health"

The Scientific Conference entitled "The Consequences of Climate Change on the Seas and Human Health" was held for the first time in Albania. The conference was held in the Aula Magna of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel" on the initiative of the " Our Lady of Good Counsel " Foundation and UKZKM in the framework of the Encyclical "Laudato Si" of Pope Francis.


The Scientific Conference entitled "The Consequences of Climate Change on the Seas and Human Health" was held for the first time in Albania. The conference was held in the Aula Magna of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel" on the initiative of the " Our Lady of Good Counsel " Foundation and UKZKM in the framework of the Encyclical "Laudato Si" of Pope Francis.

The conference was started by the Vice-Rector of the University, Prof. Edmond Hajderi, who in his speech stated that this Conference, by addressing the consequences of climate change on the seas and on health, also represents an important event for scientific research in Albania.

The audience were greeted by the President of the “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Foundation, fr. Ruggero Valentini, who stated that many countries are committed to reducing the consequences of climate change, therefore in his opinion it is important that the new generation should be more attentive to health and the planet.

The scientific conference brought together high-level European experts, who provided a detailed picture of the situation of the consequences of climate change on the marine environment and their impact on health, accompanied by useful and very interesting information and illustrations.

The conference was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, who said that felt excited and impressed by the visit to UKZKM. The Minister, Denaj, said she had found a European and very modern dimension of student life at the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel”, appreciating the contribution that this international scientific conference offers to everyone's awareness of climate change. The same assessment was shared by the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Dr. Entela Ramosaçaj, who stated that over the last 50 years we have evidence that human activity has influenced the warming of the waters of the seas and oceans.
