In one of the classrooms of UKZKM, the international conference titled “Politically Correct, Cancel Culture, and Identity: Which Scenarios?” was held today, organized by the Faculty of Economic, Political, and Social Sciences of the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” and the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Pisa.
The conference addressed an audience of all ages, serving as a bridge of communication between internationally renowned lecturers and professors and our students, as well as numerous invited guests.
The President of FZKM, Fr. Ruggero Valentini, while giving his opening remarks, stated that the topic had attracted him from the outset because of its direct impact on our lives. “As an ordinary person,” he said, “I can affirm that today we witness a cultural resistance against consumerism and a very dynamic social reality.” He then drew the audience’s attention to the example set by our university, UKZKM, emphasizing the importance of choosing righteousness and manifesting goodness. “We must remember,” added Fr. Ruggero Valentini, “what life has given us: goodness and the value of life itself.”
The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics at UKZKM, Klodian Muço, moderating the conference, highlighted that this meeting is held simultaneously with the Davos Forum, thus updating participants on current historical developments worldwide. Prof. Antonello de Oto, from the University of Bologna, expressed his surprise at Tirana, 35 years after his first visit. “Tirana,” he said, “has managed to combine modernity with the history of the communist era, representing an example of inclusive transformation, leaving no one behind.” Similarly, Prof. Mario Ferrante explained to the students present, drawing on numerous historical examples, that we should not be afraid to speak about our culture grounded in human values and the spiritual heritage passed down through the centuries. Stefano Foglia, from the University of Pisa, highlighted the educational significance of symbols for humanity, also referring to Albania and its history prior to the 1990s. The conference also featured interventions by Dr. Desiree Pappalardo, Dr. Daniele Garofalo, and lawyer Giuliano Boschetti. The event was attended by the Vice Rector of UKZKM, Prof. Edmond Hajdëri, university faculty, students, and other invited guests.
