I was quite happy when on September 2018 I joined the wonderful staff of the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” as the University Administrator, a position which gives me the responsibility to continue the excellent work done by our staff for many years.
At the beginning of the new academic year 2019-2020, I would like to congratulate all the students who have chosen to attend the Catholic University 'Our Lady of Good Counsel' for the first time, and the students who continue their studies at our University, a good and successful year for accomplishing their academic goals. I am sure that they have made the right choice for their future by giving themselves the opportunity of a successful career, both in Albania and in European Union countries, as well as in the United States of America and beyond. Based on my personal experience, I strongly believe, that the joint or double degrees of this University in cooperation with the Italian Partner Universities will open new life perspectives to our students in the future.
Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” is a European reality in Albania and a step towards European integration, which Albania aspires so much. The University has over 2000 students, 600 of whom are Italian students. The academic body consists of around 700 professors with distinguished experience in the relevant fields. Teaching quality is one of the pillars of our University, as it provides students with an excellent professional preparation and education on human values. This quality enables our doctors, dentists, nurses, physiotherapists, economists and architects to be ready for the global labor market and realize their dreams of being employed either in the public or private sectors, by undergoing an academic or self-employment career. Indeed, the figures confirm that 98% of the graduates of our University are currently employed; 55% in Albania and 45% abroad. To enable the transfer of our students to the labor market, the University has signed several cooperation agreements with employers in various fields. Our students, since they are in their last years of university, have the opportunity to work in prestigious hospital structures, major national and international corporations, including banks, auditing and telecommunications companies, as well as design studios and construction companies.
The experience that the students get through during their academic years at Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” is unique. This is made possible thanks the multicultural environment, the exchange of ideas, new created friendships, as well as the opportunities which are offered by the campus life. It is a pleasure to see students experiencing university education using the laboratories, clinics, library, as well as our university's green, sports and leisure facilities. Such spaces are comparable to those of prestigious universities abroad.
The Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” is a synonym for quality and excellence in the higher education sector in Albania. This success is achieved thanks to the contribution of the Rector, Prof. Bruno Giardina, the Deans and academic staff, as well as the hard work and professionalism of the University administration. Besides, it has been made possible thanks to the vision and dedication of the founder of the University, Our Lady of Good Counsel Foundation. The further development of the University and the construction of the Hospital with the same name has been made possible under the foundation’s motto “Devoted to Education, Devoted to Health” and the distinguished leadership of the President, Father Daniele Bertoldi. The whole institution works every day not only to create better facilities for students to live a fruitful and beautiful university experience, but also to guarantee a successful European formation of future generations.
