"Diversity, coexistence and policy-making" is an event that brought together professors form different universities.
The conference was organized by the European Centre of Peace Science, Integration and Cooperation (CESPIC) of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel". The aim of this event is to discuss the different approaches used to discuss the issues of co-existence among different social groups.
Prof. Caplan, an expert on the issues of the Balkan countries, investigated the case of the former Yugoslavia, especially that of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He highlighted the role played by EU with reference to the protection of minority rights. In addition, he showed that restrictive law, drafted after the conflict, might be discriminatory for the integration of other ethnic minorities.
Prof. Caruso, Director of CESPIC, underlined that after the conflicts the institutions are rigid and it is possible to change them over the time, with the strengthening of democratic system.
Professors Klor and Murshed, both experts in political conflicts, discussed economic and social aspects of the ethnic minority rights protection issue.
Has greeted the event Prof. Bruno Giardina, Magnificent Rector of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel”.
