Summary:
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to public health-systems strengthening of the population of Albania and Kosovo, improving healthcare service quality and increasing prevention and healing services. Project specific objectives are: 1. Advance organizational and managerial skills as well as to promote a culture of quality on healthcare and safety in the Republics of Albania and Kosovo. 2. Increase efficiency, performance and quality of cardiac surgery services of the University Clinical Center of Prishtina. 3. Enhance efficiency, effectiveness and quality of hospital emergency services of Durres, Lezhe, Vlora, Saranda and Shkodra.
More specifically, the expected outcomes of the project are: Build leadership and management capacity in healthcare system and in health related Ministries in Albania and Kosovo, Analyze and research to reorganize healthcare services and reform their finance scheme and accreditation with particular reference to future funding systems such as DIAGNOSIS RELATED GROUPS (DRGs), publish research studies and reports on health policies, organizational structure, clinical / organizational standards and protocols of Albania and Kosovo, Improve cardiac surgical outcomes at the University Clinical Centre, Pristina, Increase the competence among emergency healthcare providers in the hospitals of Durres, Lezha, Vlora, Saranda and Shkodra.
