Our university has a considerable number of rooms equipped with the necessary items so that the student can better acquire the teaching activities. These rooms are used for courses, lectures, examinations, entry examinations, competitions etc.
A special element of the course of study in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics is the availability of the Laboratory of Moulage and of the University Dentistry Center which is located in the university premises and both are closely connected with the teaching process. These are structures equipped with all the state-of –the-art instruments and materials necessary for the preclinical and clinical practice made by students under the observance of the tutors. Every workplace in the Laboratory of Moulage contains all the real operatory equipment in a dental cabinet equipped with a set of artificial teeth where the students may work and simulate as if working with real patients. Actually, the laboratory for pre-clinical simulation is one of the most modern laboratories in Albania and has a great importance not only for dentistry students but also for post-graduate study programmes.
The most important teaching activities in the Dentistry Branch are: Preventative Dentistry and Dental Hygiene, Therapy and Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pathology of Oral Cavity, Periodontics, Orthodontics and Prosthetics Implanting. Different sections of the University Dentistry Center were created to serve not only the patients but also the students in their course of study combining theoretical and practical concepts. Meanwhile, the University and Dentistry Center have created the possible conditions for the students to deal with scientific research. Some of the papers have been published in dentistry journals of European and international prominence.
The study programme in Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis along with the University Dentistry Center have paid lots of attention to Preventative Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Orthodontics especially related to children, contributing to increasing their awareness over dental problems and anomalies through campaigns and free check-ups. According to the curriculum of the branch of Dentistry in the sixth year, clinical specialty training takes place directly with the patients of the University Dentistry Center.
