With signs in hand, taking small steps and walking in solemn silence, we paid tribute in a moment of reflection dedicated to the girls and women who lost their lives due to violence. The “Our Lady of Good Counsel” University Hospital Campus is not only a place of education and professionalism, but also a space of sensitivity and civic commitment, conveying messages of unity and hope. Students, professors, doctors, and the directors of the Catholic Hospital and UKZKM walked through the campus pathways as a gesture of respect and remembrance, side by side, with the aim of raising awareness in Albanian society against violence, which has tragically claimed the lives of innocent people. Blessed by the prayers of Father Paschal from the University Pastoral Care, the students present read the names of the victims who lost their lives, recited short poems, and, finally, jointly inaugurated the “Red Bench,” which will remain on campus as a symbol of citizens who do not remain silent, but condemn violence in all its forms. The names of the victims, written on paper, were attached to the Red Bench, beside which shoes were also placed as a symbol of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
We stand together to remind everyone that violence cannot be fought in silence!
