An important day for the Catholic Hospital “Our Lady of Good Counsel” in Tirana, which has formalized a new collaboration with the “Bambino Gesù” Pediatric Hospital in Rome. The agreement aims to strengthen the pediatric sector through innovative projects, joint research, and the exchange of expertise, with the goal of improving care for young patients and training of future healthcare professionals.

The collaboration model was presented during a ceremony attended by the Albanian Minister of Health, Ms. Evis Sala, and the Italian Undersecretary of State for Health, Mr. Marcello Gemmato. Joining remotely were the President of Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, Prof. Tiziano Onesti, the Medical Director of this world-renowned center, Mr. Massimiliano Raponi, and the Head of International Relations, Mr. Alessandro Cristaldi. Minister Evis Sala expressed her appreciation for a leading healthcare institution such as the Catholic Hospital of Tirana, which is further enriched by the experience of collaborating with the Pope’s Hospital, which provides thousands of pediatric healthcare services worldwide every year. “This is a collaboration for the future,” said Mr. Cristaldi in his opening remarks, recalling the words of Pope Francis, according to whom incurable diseases may exist, but caring for children is always possible. The attendees also appreciated the contributions of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UKZKM, Dr. Anila Godo, and the message of encouragement from Prof. Tiziano Onesti. The ceremony concluded with the official signing of the collaboration agreement with Bambino Gesù Hospital for the establishment of a “Child Development Center.” On this occasion, the President of the NSBC Foundation, Fr. Ruggero Valentini, awarded the Italian Deputy Minister, Mr. Marcello Gemmato, the Mother Teresa Medallion. Mr. Gemmato concluded by leaving his reflections in a lengthy message in the guestbook of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Foundation.
