Evaluation of Albanian legumes through recognition of their nutritional characteristics
The project, in the field of implementation of new food processing technologies, is the outcome of close cooperation between the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” and the University of Milano. The cooperation resulted in a very successful experience of knowledge transfer and exchange. The project has brought novelty in terms of building scientific knowledge, helping community and growers to increase the quality of legumes production systems and thus improve the health of the consumer.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to public health-systems strengthening of the population of Albania and Kosovo, improving healthcare service quality and increasing prevention and healing services. Increase efficiency, performance and quality of cardiac surgery services of the University Clinical Center of Prishtina. 3. Enhance efficiency, effectiveness and quality of hospital emergency services of Durres, Lezhe, Vlora, Saranda and Shkodra.

The project is a cooperation with the researchers of University of Milano and it is oriented towards basic and applied research. The identification and projection of inhibitory activity substances that can be used to cure protozoan diseases are project’s key purposes. Italian researcher staff have a consolidated experience in the design and synthesis of molecule able to have biological activity. Once identified, substances are subject to evaluation and improvement of pharmacokinetic parameters in order to be used in preclinical studies. The project is innovative because, for the moment, there are still no effective medications in this area.
