Today at the Central Campus of the Catholic University and Hospital "Our Lady of Good Counsel" we had the honor of welcoming Mrs. Simona Cruciani, Head of Political Affairs of the United Nations Office for the Prevention of Genocide and the Accountability for Protection.
Mrs. Cruciani was received by the President of the "Our Lady of Good Counsel" Foundation, Fr. Ruggero Valentini and met with the directors and professors of the academic staff of the UKZKM. A dynamic conversation took place in one of the university halls, which served to learn about the role of the United Nations Office in the fight against violence, hatred and genocide and to exchange opinions on the challenges that United Nations and different regions of the world today are facing today. Ms. Cruciani shared her experience and answered questions from the distinguished audience during the meeting, adding that the office she represents monitors and reports documented cases of genocide to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. After the meeting, the international representative was honored by the President of the Foundation, Fr. Ruggero Valentini with the medallion inscribed with the words of the Albanian Holy Mother Teresa, who blessed all those who will be involved in the good functioning of the large university and hospital complex "Our Lady of Good Counsel" in Albania. Mrs. Cruciani recorded her impressions of this visit in the friends' book and then followed some moments of the voting that took place to choose the "Righteous" of 2025. She saw the nominations and voted for one of them. The Head of Political Affairs of the United Nations Office for the Prevention of Genocide and the Accountability to Protect said she had visited several Gardens of the Righteous in different countries around the world. She congratulated the Our Lady of Good Counsel Foundation for building the first Garden of the Righteous in Albania within the UKZKM campus, supporting the message that the Righteous give to the world, as champions of the protection of human rights.
